Is Unique Rewards A Scam or Just a Waste of Time?

What is Unique Rewards and is it a Scam?

Unique Rewards claims to be a reward site that pays you for answering surveys, clicking ads, reading emails, even watching videos and listening to music. You’re probably wondering whether the site is actually legit as I did. I tried to answer that question and here’s what I discovered.

What is Unique Rewards?

It started operations in 2003 in Oberlin, Ohio and is currently headed by CEO Mr. Oleg Gradel. I tried to do some further research on Mr. Oleg Gradel and the only information I could find was a Linkedin page with no profile pic and little information. However, that doesn’t mean Unique Rewards is a scam. It could just mean that the owner isn’t keen on social media.

How Does Unique Rewards Work?

You will first need to sign up for free. At the time of writing Unique Rewards was only accepting members from the US, UK and Canada. After you’ve signed up you’re then given the option of completing various surveys and offers. These include:

Online Surveys — Complete Online Surveys that are free but sometimes require you to submit your credit card details.
Paid To Click Ads — Click on adverts after watching them for a set amount of time and earn a few cents in the process.
Watch Videos — Watch videos that are basically adverts and get paid based on how long the video lasts.
Cash-back on Shopping — Cash-back on Shopping gives you a percentage cash back just for shopping online through UniqueRewards. Simply choose a product, make a purchase and receive up to 35% cash rebate credited to your UniqueRewards account.
Reading Email — Every email you receive contains an offer which has to be completed. After you complete the offer you will earn 1 cent.
Referrals — Get $5 for each new member you Invite and earn 10% of their earnings

Once you’ve earned over $20 you gain premium member status which means you earn more money for completing each reward.

What you can Expect

When you sign up you’re required to enter basic information about yourself such as your name, address, telephone, email etc.

After I signed up I was only presented with one option. This was a short survey from a company called Netratings. After completing the short survey, I was asked to download and install a PC application from www.nielsennetpanel.com. The file is called netsight_setup from Nielsen // NetRatings. However, I wouldn’t recommend installing it. The application is difficult to uninstall and according to others it consumes a lot of resources and causes audio problems. However, it doesn’t appear to be malware.
Unique Rewards Netratings

Unique Rewards Nielsen Software

I skipped the part that involved downloading and installing the software and not long after I was presented with some better options as you can see below:

Unique Rewards Offers

There are many different offers. These include Offers/Surveys, OfferWalls, Polls, Clicks, and Videos. The Surveys or offers are quite varied and include Research Projects, Free Trials, Membership Clubs, Registration Offers and Daily Surveys. I would avoid the Downloads category just in case some of the applications you download contain malware.
Unique Rewards options

Unique Rewards pays through Payapl or Check which can take about 7 days to process your cash-out request. However, some have claimed they never received any money when cashing out and were unable to contact customer support. The minimum balance for cashing out is $20.

Who is Unique Rewards For

For people on a low income who want to supplement their income

Unique Rewards Support

The only available method of contacting their company is via email.

Pros and Cons

The Pros

  • Free $5 sign-up bonus for new members
  • Get $5 referral bonus plus 10% of whatever your referral earns over their lifetime.
  • Large variation of tasks and different categories making the work less tedious.
  • You can accumulate fairly significant cash backs by signing up for trial offers.
  • A user rating system for each reward so you can be sure that others have had a good experience and found them to be profitable.
  • You get the chance to complain if a particular award was a waste of time and Unique Awards will remove the offer.
  • You can sort the Offers by Profitability, Reward Amount or Popularity.
  • Low minimum payout balance of $20.

The Cons

  • Not available to users who live outside of the USA, Canada, and the UK
  • Some people have complained that Unique Rewards failed to pay them
  • Some of the offers will earn you very little

Unique Rewards Tips

  • Make sure to check out the user ratings that have been left by other members who have completed those offers. This will give you an idea as to whether those rewards are any good or not.
  • Make sure there no popup blockers or Ad-blocking software preventing you from completing the offers
  • Occasionally you may fail to get credit but clearing your cookies and cache before logging into Unique Rewards can solve this problem
  • Set your browser to accept all cookies so that you get credited
  • To prevent spam I recommend getting a second email account. That way if you get offers and spam from various companies it won’t end up in your primary email account.
  • Be wary of any Awards that require you to download a file as it could be adware/spyware.
  • The highest rewards come from signing up to Free Trials using a credit card. However if you don’t cancel the free trial you can end up being charged more than you actually make.

Unique Awards Alternatives

Survey Junkie — Survey junkie provides nothing, but surveys and they advertise themselves as the most popular survey site online. SurveyJunkie.com has over 7 million members and was launched on Oct 6, 2005.

Swagbucks — Swagbucks is essentially a search engine that pays you in the form of “swag bucks” for using it. There are plenty of other ways to obtain swag bucks too, like taking surveys, playing games, and cutting coupons, but it’s predominantly a search engine.

MyPoints Surveys — MyPoints is a rewards program website where members can collect reward Points by making online purchases from certain retailers. It’s also a website that offers many other ways of collecting incentives for great gifts. It also includes online survey’s.

Ipsos iSay — Ipos iSay strictly focuses on survey’s. Conclusion

Would I recommend Unique Rewards?
No, because like all online survey sites or reward sites the earnings are very low. Also from the reviews I’ve read online the experiences are somewhat mixed, with some claiming to have received earnings and others claiming to have been cheated out of their time. It should also be noted that according to the Better Business Bureau there’s been 5 complaint(s) filed against business that include not receiving any money after completing the required work.

What Do I Recommend?
If you’re someone who’s interested in earning a real online income, you want to be financially independent and be your own boss you’ve probably searched online for work at home opportunities only to be confused by all the information out there and the number of business opportunities baying for your attention. It’s difficult to separate the wheat from the weeds or know where to start. To make matters worse, the online world changes very fast.

Is Survey Junkie A Scam or Just a Waste of Time

Is Survey Junkie A Scam or Waste of Time?

I enjoy sharing my opinion, so I’ve tried a few Online Survey sites where you get paid for answering questions. While most are legit I’ve discovered they’re very low paying and tedious.

If you think you can make a living online completing survey’s, think again. You’re talking about a few bucks a week. Don’t believe claims stating $100 a day. These are affiliates trying to recruit people to join Survey Junkie.

Anyway, I thought I’d give Survey Junkie a try. I’m not an affiliate for Survey Junkie so here’s my honest review.

What is Survey Junkie?

Survey Junkie is one of the most popular online survey sites which allow registered users to earn money and rewards for participating in online survey’s. The answers to these surveys are then used to help companies and brands improve their products and services. SurveyJunkie.com was launched in 2005 and has millions of members.

What you can Expect

Before you start answering survey’s you’ll first have to create an account with a username and password. You should then fill out some personal information in your profile. This includes things such as consumer preferences, age, location, contact info etc. This information is then used to match you with companies that want your opinion.

Once you’ve earned enough points it becomes time to redeem them. The minimum that you can redeem is 1,000 points which is equal to $10.00. These points are converted into payments that are sent to you via PayPal or placed on a e-GiftCard.

You will hear some claim that Survey Junkie provides surveys that are worth 300 points and take 10 minutes to complete. However, this is misleading as it’s unlikely that you’ll qualify for such surveys and these are rare. The majority of the surveys that are any good are around 20-50 points and will take 10-20mins.

While Survey Junkie won’t make you a lot of money, if you like reviewing products and giving your opinion in your spare time than give it a go. It can supplement your existing income.

Who is Survey Junkie For

Survey Junkie is for people who enjoy sharing their opinion and want to supplement their existing income with a few extra dollars a week. Survey Junkie doesn’t require any skills. It only requires the ability to use a computer and answer questions. It’s good for those without skills who want to earn a few extra dollars from home.

Survey Junkie Support

You can search their Help Center by entering a search term or browsing by topic. If you want direct help they offer customer support if you can’t find an answer to your question.

Survey Junkie is Free to join

Pros and Cons

The Pros

  • It’s FREE – . It doesn’t cost a dime to join so you have nothing to lose, except your time ?.
  • Can be Fun – There are multiple genres and creative formats, so it doesn’t get taxing to complete each survey.
  • Multiple Reward Methods – You can choose to be rewarded via Paypal, or an e-GiftCard which you can use online.
  • Get credited Straight Away – You’ll get credited as soon as you complete a survey so there’s no delay crediting your rewards.
  • Instant Rewards – Once you reach the required redeemable amount your rewards arrive immediately! There are no checks or physical gift cards.
  • User Friendly – One of the most user-friendly survey sites when it comes to their interface.
  • Receive points even if you don’t Qualify – If you don’t qualify for a survey they’ll still reward you a few cents for giving it a try.
  • Low payment threshold – Has a Low $10 payout threshold so you won’t have to complete as many surveys as some sites.
  • Great Reviews — At the time of writing this review Survey Junkie had a 4 star review from Trust Pilot which is considered Great, a 5 star review would be considered excellent.

The Cons

  • Sometimes you Don’t Qualify — Many have complained that they don’t qualify for the survey as they belong to the wrong demographics. Some demographics are more popular and in demand than others.
  • Occasional Glitch — Although I have not experienced this myself some have complained of the occasional glitch where you hit a screen that says temporarily down.
  • High Paying Survey’s Rare — The surveys range from almost zero dollars up to five dollars but the five dollar surveys are very rare.
  • Geographic Limitation — Unfortunately you must reside in the US, Canada, or Australia.

Survey Junkie Tips

  • Profile Creation — While this step is optional I would highly recommend that you fill in your profile thoroughly as Survey Junkie will give you more surveys to fill out in future. Plus, you will also earn points once your profile is filled out.
  • Beware — The higher paid surveys often require you to complete an offer on a third-party site which can end up being a waste of time or even a scam. Try to avoid surveys that require an extra hoop to jump though, especially if they offer money for a conference call or a free test product that you never receive or get to test.
  • Verified PayPal Account — Make sure you have a verified PayPal account otherwise you cannot receive payments. In order to have a verified PayPal account you must provide information to PayPal to prove your identity.
  • Make sure you Qualify — Try to make sure you qualify for a survey first otherwise it can be a waste of time.
  • Prevent Spam — To prevent spam it’s a good idea to have a second email account. That way if you get offers and spam from various companies it won’t end up in your primary email account.
  • Don’t violate the terms and conditions — It goes without saying that violating their terms and conditions may lead to your account being closed for no apparent reason

Survey Junkie Alternatives

Swagbucks — Swagbucks is essentially a search engine that pays you in the form of “swag bucks” for using it. There are plenty of other ways to obtain swag bucks too, like taking surveys, playing games, and cutting coupons, but it’s predominantly a search engine.

You’re awarded “chances” based on how close your guess is and you can use these chances to enter into Ipsos i-Say’s prize draws.

MySurvey — Similar to Survey Junkie although processing time for payments are around 4-8 weeks and Mysurvey has a lot more negative reviews than Survey Junkie, with users reporting few survey invitations, sometimes as few as a couple a month.

FusionCash.com — FussionCash is more than an online survey site. You have a number of choices to earn cash including completing offers by trying out a product or testing out software. You can also complete Surveys just like SurveyJunkie except you can also earn cashback on purchases you make at different online retailers. There are also paid to call opportunities, watching videos and completing tasks. FusionCash is only available for residents of the United States.

Name: Survey Junkie
Website: www.surveyjunkie.com

Owners: Unknown
Overall Rank: 5 out of 10
VERDICT: LEGIT

Conclusion

I think this is the best survey site I’ve tried so far for several reasons. The surveys are more enjoyable to complete and straightforward. The user Interface is simple and user friendly. While I find some survey’s to be more tedious than others I do like the fact that Survey Junkie provides multiple genres and creative formats, so it doesn’t get taxing to complete each survey.

The best thing about Survey Junkie is that it’s easy and pays out in eGiftCard rewards or a payment directly into your PayPal account.

Would I recommend Survey Junkie?
No, because like all online survey sites the earnings are still very low. You’re talking about a few dollars a week. Survey Junkie won’t replace a full-time or even a part-time salary. I would rather earn a real income doing real work online, whether that be internet marketing or contract work.

Start Survey and Up-Survey Scam – A Review

Is Start Survey or Up-Survey a Scam?”

Start Survey Scam
Paid surveys have become increasingly common with many sites offering money in return for your time in taking their online surveys.

Most paid surveys appear to be scams. Some of these online surveys are legitimate. However, the legitimate surveys pay out very small amounts of cash for a lot of work. If you’re short of cash, there’s better ways of earning money without investing so much of your time.

These scam surveys will tend to ask generic questions. The purpose of legitimate online surveys is to obtain specific demographic information that’s useful for advertisers who market to the public.

Often you must make a certain amount before you can withdraw the cash, so it can take awhile before you discover it’s a scam. By that time, you’ve already invested a lot of time and effort in carrying out the surveys and they’ve got your email address and personally information.

One such scam is Start Survey, which promises to pay out $14 for each survey you take. It only takes about two minutes to complete each survey and less than ten minutes per day. This is supposed to make you $42 Plus more if you sign up friends and family. You can take three surveys every day, which adds up to $42. You can then earn additional cash by referring friends to the site – $15 per sign up, plus 20% of what your referrals earn. If you have a lot of online friends this can add up to a descent amount of money for online work.

If only it was true:

While signing up to Start Survey or up-Survey is easy – you must give them your Paypal or Payza email address and a password. If you must sign up don’t give them any password you would normally use for PayPal or any other site!

Up-survey is similar in that it is supposedly easy to earn money, however you never get paid even after you’ve reached the threshold of earnings necessary to withdraw the money.

These are just scams to collect your email address – which are then added to a spam database. If they ask you for a password it’s common for people to use the same password for everything. In which case they have both your Paypal ID and your password!

Don’t bother with paid surveys. Most are a scam and the ones that are legitimate pay very little.
